AAP Dump Hot-Fix Waste Outside Surat Mayor's Residence

Reported by Gujarat Samachar

Aam Aadmi Party workers dumped heaps of hot-fix industrial waste outside Surat Mayor's home, protesting the suspension of corporator Rachna Hirpara and demanding a permanent solution for citywide waste disposal.

The high-voltage demonstration followed Hirpara’s suspension during a Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) general board meeting. Party office-bearers, corporators, and workers unloaded the industrial waste in front of the mayor's residence to highlight what they termed an absolute collapse of the civic body's solid waste management system.

AAP leaders alleged that semi-industrial units and hot-fix factories across the city generate massive volumes of waste daily, yet the SMC lacks a dedicated mechanism to collect or process it. Consequently, raw waste gets dumped along public roads and open spaces, causing severe sanitation issues.

AAP leader Dharmesh Bhanderi took aim at the civic administration's operational claims, stating that maintaining cleanliness around the mayor's residential society does not make all of Surat clean. He urged the mayor and senior officials to step out of their air-conditioned offices and inspect the ground reality in municipal wards.

Speaking after her suspension, Rachna Hirpara maintained that civic authorities targeted her simply for raising public grievances during the general board meeting.
