Image : AI Generated Representative image A surprise raid by the Ahmedabad Jail DIG squad at Surat’s Lajpore Jail led to the recovery of 11 mobile phones and nine SIM cards, with some devices found hidden inside toilets and under washbasins while two phones were allegedly being charged inside a barrack.
The search was conducted on Friday night between 9:30 pm and 10:40 pm by a team led by Jailor Devshibhai Rashmalbhai Karangiya, along with prison staff.
During the search of Barrack No. 1 in Yard No. C-8, the squad found three mobile phones wrapped in a transparent plastic bag and hidden under a bucket inside the bathroom.
Two more phones were found kept on charging outside the washbasin in the same barrack. Both were unclaimed.
The team also searched under-trial prisoner Ramakant alias Golu Gehrai Das and allegedly recovered a mobile phone from the right pocket of his trousers.
