Reported by NBC 7 San Diego
Officials want San Diego County residents to be prepared as a tropical storm watch was issued for all of San Diego County due to possible high winds, coastal flooding and rain this weekend.
Ahead of the storm, the county, Cal Fire, and several cities are providing free sandbags for residents and businesses. Here's where you can pick them up:
Some places may have a limited supply, so it's best to call ahead and double-check availability. Don't forget to bring a shovel for filling bags.
Note: Empty sandbags are available at the following recreation centers, if needed. Sandbags are limited to 10 bags per City of San Diego household or business. Sand is not provided but can be purchased at local hardware and home improvement stores.
The City of Encinitas Public Works Department is providing up to 10 bags for Encinitas residents with a significant need. Proof if Encinitas residency needed. Residents must fill and load their own sandbags.
