On Monday, hundreds of UC San Diego students lined up outside of the four campus vote centers to vote in the 2026 midterm election. At noon, an estimated 130 students queued up to vote at the Red Shoe Room and Bear Room at Price Center, forming a line that stretched to the sidewalk alongside Dirty Birds.
Volunteers handed out snacks to students waiting in line, including granola bars, water bottles and Haribo Goldbears. Various clubs tabled along Library Walk throughout the day, including the Triton Democrats, College Republicans at UC San Diego and Associated Students.
The other vote centers on campus were less popular, with 75 students in line at Rya Community Room 2 at Pepper Canyon West and 20 students at the Middle Earth Lounge in Eleanor Roosevelt College. At the Middle Earth Lounge vote center, volunteers handed out pizza slices to those waiting in line.
The UCSD Guardian did not observe the number of students in line at The Exchange vote center in the Nuevo East Community. By 6 p.m., the lines had stretched out even further, with the line outside the Red Shoe Room and Bear Room vote center almost reaching Starbucks.
