Reported by Colorado State Athletics
Colorado State spent the first half absorbing nearly everything San Diego State could send forward: eight shots, five corner kicks and two extended stretches of pressure. None of it produced a goal. Then Avery Boulom stepped to the penalty spot early in the second half and gave the Rams something to protect.
They protected it for a little more than five minutes. Victoria Miller scored three times in a five-minute span, sending the Aztecs to a 3-1 victory in Pac-12 play Sunday and undoing an hour of disciplined work from a team that had earned its lead the hard way.
The opening 45 minutes belonged to the back line and to Addison Huber . After the Aztecs opened with a pair of corner kicks, the sophomore goalkeeper turned away Alexyz Nakamoto in the eighth minute. CSU then survived a sequence of three corners and three shots between the 17th and 21st minutes. San Diego State made one more run before the break, firing four shots in five minutes, and Huber denied Alannah Gonzales in the 42nd to send the teams to the locker room level.
That part has become habit. Through four Pac-12 matches, the Rams have yet to allow a first-half goal.
