Affordable housing, education, and Tijuana River pollution remain among his priorities as he prepares to return to Sacramento.
The fight against sewage pollution from the Tijuana River, access to affordable housing, and educational opportunities are among the issues David Alvarez says he will continue addressing after securing another term in the California State Assembly.
Alvarez announced his reelection as representative of the 80th Assembly District in a statement, reporting that he received more than 65% of the vote. He thanked supporters and described the outcome as an honor, while emphasizing that the election marks the beginning of another period of work rather than the conclusion of one.
For South San Diego communities, the priorities he outlined include several issues with direct regional implications. Alvarez specifically pointed to the need to make housing accessible to families and younger generations, preserve education as a path to opportunity, and find solutions to the sewage contamination affecting communities near the Tijuana River.
He also referenced Chula Vista, National City, Barrio Logan, and Logan Heights as communities whose concerns will remain part of his work. The lawmaker said he plans to keep residents updated as the next legislative session begins.
