MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Tusshar Kapoor has allegedly received an extortion threat demanding ₹5 crore from a caller claiming to be Harry Boxer, an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Mumbai Police have launched an investigation into the threatening communication, with a preliminary voice analysis raising doubts about the caller’s identity.
According to information attributed to Mumbai Police sources, Kapoor informed the police after receiving the threat. The matter was subsequently handed over to the Anti-Extortion Cell and the Mumbai Crime Branch for investigation.
The caller reportedly introduced himself as Harry Boxer and demanded ₹5 crore from the actor. However, investigators have not established that the person behind the threat was actually connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The Crime Branch’s technical team examined the audio recording of the threatening communication and compared the caller’s voice with official audio samples of Harry Boxer available in its database.
The preliminary comparison reportedly found no match, leading investigators to suspect that the caller may have impersonated a gang member to intimidate Kapoor and demand money.
Police are now attempting to identify the person responsible for the threatening communication and establish the origin of the recording.
