Mumbai weather turned unusually hot and humid on Tuesday, with the Colaba observatory recording a maximum temperature of 37.3 degrees Celsius and Santacruz registering 37.1 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department forecast largely dry conditions for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar over the following 24 hours, while warning of thunderstorms, lightning, rain and gusty winds in parts of the Konkan region.
The city began the day with hazy skies and humid conditions. Colaba recorded a minimum temperature of 27.5 degrees Celsius, while Santacruz recorded 26.5 degrees Celsius. Neither observatory reported rainfall, with precipitation recorded at 0.0 millimetres.
For Mumbai and its suburbs, the maximum temperature was expected to remain around 36 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature staying in the mid-20s. The forecast indicated mainly clear skies with some cloud cover during the day and predominantly dry conditions across Mumbai, Thane and Palghar.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity could make afternoon conditions uncomfortable, particularly for people spending extended periods outdoors. Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing and limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
