Mumbai recorded 12,622 residential property registrations in September 2026, a 5% year-on-year increase and the highest September tally in 14 years, according to Knight Frank India. Ganesh Chaturthi emerged as a key contributor, with 5,379 registrations recorded between September 14 and 25, up 22% year on year, generating INR 640 crore in stamp duty revenue for the Maharashtra government. Industry representatives attributed the sustained transaction activity to consumer confidence, infrastructure improvements, connectivity upgrades and demand for quality housing across suburban micro-markets. Developers also pointed to lifestyle upgrades, project credibility, location advantages and festive homebuying sentiment as factors supporting demand across premium and mid-segment housing in Mumbai.
