Mumbai Police arrest two women wanted in NDPS case after search in Dahisar

The Kasturba Marg Police have arrested two women including a 60yearold woman and her 32yearold daughterinlawAn official statement noted that the accused were allegedly absconding in a drug trafficking case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances NDPS Act 1985The accused have been identified as Rehana Abdul Hameed Mulani alias Rolly Appa 60 and Farida Mulani 32 both residents of Santosh Nagar Daulat Nagar slum in Borivli EastAccording to an official statement a case was registered against the duo at Kasturba Marg Police Station under Sections 8c and 21b of the NDPS Act Both women had allegedly been absconding since the registration of the caseDuring the investigation a police team received information on November 2 that the two wanted accused were staying at Navjeevan SRA Building on SV Road near Dahisar Market in Dahisar WestActing on the information a police team conducted a search of the building and traced the women to a room on the seventh floorFollowing the arrest of the accused they allegedly gave evasive answers during the questioning Furthermore they were subsequently taken into custody and brought to the police station for further investigationThe police said that their involvement in the case was established during the subsequent investigation following which Section 29 of the NDPS Act pertaining to criminal conspiracy or abetment was added to the caseAccused already involved in 17 criminal casesOfficials while briefing about the case further stated that Rehana Mulani has a criminal record involving 17 cases These include four cases related to drug trafficking five offences against the human body two cases involving assaults on public servants three rioting cases and three offences against propertyAccording to the officials the two accused are motherinlaw and daughterinlaw They had allegedly been concealing their identities and repeatedly changing their places of residence over the past few days to evade the investigating agenciesThe operation was carried out by a team from Kasturba Marg Police Station under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police North Region Shashikumar Mina Deputy Commissioner of Police North Region III Gajanan Shivling Rajmane and Assistant Commissioner of Police Dahisar Division Jairaj Ranaware
