MUMBAI: Marking a landmark milestone in the city’s transit history, the Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) has officially completed its first full year of operations, powering past an astounding 7 crore (70 million) passenger journeys. Running from Cuffe Parade in the south to Aarey JVLR in the north, the 33.5-kilometer corridor has permanently redefined how Mumbaikars traverse their city.
As Mumbai’s flagship underground metro line, the Aqua Line seamlessly integrates 27 state-of-the-art stations—26 subterranean and 1 at-grade—stretching beneath some of the densest urban corridors in Asia.
What once required hours of painstaking navigation through heavy traffic along the Western Express Highway and South Mumbai arteries is now a smooth, air-conditioned ride spanning just 54 to 60 minutes end-to-end.
Over the past 365 days, the corridor has emerged as the primary lifeline for daily commuters, business executives, and travelers alike.
Operating daily from 5:55 AM to 10:30 PM with peak-hour train frequencies reaching every 5 minutes, the line delivers high-capacity efficiency with fares ranging between Rs 10 and Rs 70.
