Weather Update: Southern India is heading towards a significant shift in weather, with heavy rain forecast in parts of Tamil Nadu and a fresh spell of showers expected across Karnataka. The anticipated arrival of the Northeast Monsoon around October 15 could bring relief from the prevailing heat, although rainfall is unlikely to be uniform across the region.
Meanwhile, Mumbai continues to experience unusually high October temperatures, with the possibility of a change in weather later this month remaining uncertain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rainfall warnings for several districts of Tamil Nadu, while its Bengaluru centre has forecast an increase in rainfall activity across Karnataka from October 15.
Weather systems developing over the Bay of Bengal and the Gulf of Mannar are expected to influence the coming days, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds accompanying showers in several locations.
Tamil Nadu Weather Today: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has forecast heavy rain at isolated places in four southern districts of Tamil Nadu on October 14. Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari are likely to receive heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
