Navi Mumbai Airport News: Concerns over limited and expensive ways to reach Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) are set to ease as the airport expands its ground transport network with new state-run buses, private bus services, taxis, autos and a free shuttle connecting the city’s two airports.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will begin e-Shivai electric bus services from NMIA on October 7, initially connecting the airport with Dadar, Borivali and Pune. Fares have been fixed at Rs 170 for Dadar East, Rs 210 for Borivali and Rs 450 for Pune.
The Dadar service will operate via Sion and Atal Setu, while the Borivali route will connect NMIA with Mumbai’s Terminal 1, Bandra and Atal Setu. The Pune route will have two daily services, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Services connecting Thane and Nashik are planned by mid-November.
For commuters from Mumbai, Chalo Bus currently operates 21 daily services linking NMIA with Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Centre in Colaba. Additional capacity is being added during peak periods to handle passenger and employee movement.
