Mumbai: In the last two days, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of nine restaurants, including a branch of Domino’s Pizza in Bhandup.
While specific issues at each restaurant were not provided, FDA told the press that inspectors found some to be in severely unsanitary conditions.
Violations included unhygienic kitchen premises and drainage, rusted storage racks and cooking utensils and the re-mixing of returned bread into fresh dough. There were also unrecorded food temperature logs, kitchen staff working without mandatory medical fitness certificates and the addition of unauthorised food colours in sweets.
Meanwhile, stock of rajma and pulses was seized from the establishment of RDC Agro Ventures Pvt Ltd in Nerul (East). This includes 10,998 kg of Red Rajma and “Bullet Pulses” weighing 22,288 kg. Officials said these were found to be of substandard quality.
