Reported by The Times of India
Mumbai: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended 28 food businesses in the city, including sweet and farsan manufacturers, hotels and restaurants, caterers, home-based food units and quick-commerce establishments. The crackdown had common safety lapses across popular eateries and retail hubs.
FDA inspectors found unhygienic premises featuring blackened walls, dilapidated ceilings and food articles stored directly on filthy floors. Basic sanitary measures were missing, including protective window mesh to block pests and proper temperature control records.
Additionally, there were paperwork issues and there were no drinking water analysis reports. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers were also missing. Some of the establishments facing immediate suspension are quick-commerce operators like Zepto and Blinkit.
Tossin Pizza in Worli, Biryani By Kilo operated by Black Velvet Hospitality, Jumbo Burger under Abhay Sharma HUF, Theram Restaurant, Shifu Express and Maratha Kitchen also had their licences suspended. Similar issues were found at Hotel Annapurna, Hotel Sai Pooja, Nityanand Bhuvan Hindu Hotel and Hotel Gurudev Bar & Restaurant.
