NEW DELHI: Four men were arrested on Thursday for allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old man to death in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj, with police suspecting an old rivalry dating back to an altercation inside Tihar Jail in 2025 as the motive.
The deceased, Shahid Hussain, a resident of Jamia Nagar, was a listed bad character who had been released from jail earlier this week, police said.
The incident took place on Wednesday at Shriram Chowk, where police found a scooter abandoned with bloodstains.
According to police, Hussain had gone to Basantpur to meet Shabid Malik alias Monu. While he was returning on his scooter, four men riding a motorcycle allegedly overtook and intercepted him before stabbing him and fleeing the spot.
A police officer said the investigation revealed that the murder was allegedly linked to an old rivalry between Hussain and Tarun alias Ranjan, an accused in the case. The two had reportedly had an altercation inside Tihar Jail in 2025.
