New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday distributed appointment letters to 46 dependents of deceased civic body employees under its compassionate appointment scheme, offering them employment as Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in the Public Health Department.
The appointment letters were handed over by Mayor Pravesh Wahi at a ceremony held at the Satya Narayan Bansal Auditorium at the Corporation headquarters. The initiative is aimed at extending employment support to families who have lost their earning members while serving in the civic body.
Addressing the gathering, Wahi said the MCD remained committed to safeguarding the interests and welfare of its employees and providing assistance to their families during difficult circumstances. He described civic workers as an essential link in the delivery of municipal services, particularly sanitation, which depends on their continued efforts.
The Mayor also highlighted other employment-related measures undertaken by the civic body, including the regularisation of 1,467 sanitation workers. He referred to the recent disbursement of salaries to around 4,000 MTS employees in the Public Health Department under the principle of ‘equal pay for equal work’, facilitated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
