Noida: Lawyers who live in NCR cities and practise in Supreme Court or appear before National Green Tribunal (NGT) have sought an exemption for their non-BS VI vehicles from the restriction on entry into Delhi.
Supreme Court Bar Association secretary Pragya Baghel said that following requests from advocates residing in Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad and other NCR cities, the association has written to Supreme Court general secretary seeking an exemption. “We have not challenged the decision, instead placed a humble request. If Delhi based non-BS VI vehicles can be allowed, those commuting to Delhi on a regular basis should also be given some relaxation,” she said.
Members of Delhi High Court Bar Association have also placed a request with the high court registrar, but are waiting for the Supreme Court’s decision. Association member Manik Gupta said they had approached their president to see if things could be relaxed for those attending courts regularly. “We have a fundamental duty towards ensuring that air pollution is not aggravated and hence whatever can be done without causing inconvenience to people at large is welcome,” he said.
