New Delhi: After a ban on non-Delhi vehicles below BS-VI came into force Sunday, Delhi Metro recorded a significant rise in passenger boardings of around 8.3 lakh on Nov 2 as compared with the previous Monday.
Delhi Metro recorded a significant increase in passenger boardings on Nov 2, with total boardings reaching 80,54,968 compared to 72,24,094 on the previous Monday, reflecting an increase of over 8.3 lakh boardings,” said a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official. DMRC defines passenger boarding as the number of metro lines used by a passenger to complete the journey.
The official added that the rise in passenger boardings may be attributed to the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage-I restrictions on the operation of certain non-BS VI vehicles in Delhi, which encouraged more commuters to shift towards public transport.
However, the highest passenger boardings on a single day stood at 82,44,903, recorded on Sept 17. The record was created against the backdrop of the ongoing DTC bus strike. The previous record of 81,88,115 passenger journeys was witnessed on Aug 8, 2025, on the eve of Raksha Bandhan.
