Winters in Delhi are about to be a little bit more colourful as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) are planning to plant tulips. However, it is to be noted that parks under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will miss out on the seasonal flowers for the second consecutive year.
According to Hindustan Times, the NDMC has placed orders for 4.67 lakh tulip bulbs from the Netherlands for the upcoming winter season. Of these, 3 lakh bulbs will be planted across NDMC-maintained parks, prominent roads and public spaces, while the remaining 1.67 lakh will be used in DDA parks and other locations across the city.
If you are planning to see Delhi covered in colourful tulips, mark your calendar for the end of January 2027. The bulbs are generally planted in December, with flowers expected to begin blooming towards the end of January. The flowering season usually continues until late February or early March, depending on weather conditions.
The blooms are expected to bring shades of red, yellow, pink and other colours to the capital’s parks, roundabouts and roadsides, making the winter-to-spring transition a little more colourful.
While NDMC and DDA parks are preparing for another season of colourful blooms, MCD-maintained parks will not have tulips this winter.
