The Delhi government’s online liquor booking scheme has triggered a political row, with the AAP denying it approved the initiative and the ruling BJP blaming the previous government for its rollout. While the AAP has demanded a Vigilance inquiry into the scheme calling BJP's claims a “lie”, officials of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) – which operates the app – said the application was rolled out in November 2025, following approval in December 2024, when the AAP was in power.
The work order for developing the 'Delhi Liquor Booking' app was issued on January 2, 2025, an official from DSIIDC said. For iOS users, access through a platform-neutral, QR code-based microsite was introduced on September 6, 2026. Under the scheme, one can book liquor online from 208 retail outlets operated by DSIIDC.
However, the facility does not offer home delivery. Customers who book online but must visit their selected outlet to collect their orders within 48 hours. The facility was introduced to reduce queues outside liquor shops and improve transparency in sales and payments, said officials.
