Delhi pollution has pulled winter's rulebook forward again. From November 1, the Delhi Traffic Police will enforce vehicle-entry restrictions under the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) had already invoked Stage I of GRAP from October 21, after air quality slipped into the 'Poor' category.
If you are driving in to Delhi, be carefull of the anti-pollution rules. Keep in mind your vehicle's emission standards, PUC certificate, and permit papers. Check them before you leave. You must carry the physical papers or update your Digilocker because the border checks begin on November 1.
01Are pollution-related restrictions imposed in Delhi at present?
Yes. Restrictions under GRAP-1 are already in place since October 21. Under GRAP Stage I, dust-mitigation measures are bolstered and existing rules on construction and demolition activities, waste management and other pollution sources are strictly enforced. This includes measures to contain damage to environment due to vehicle emissions, diesel generator sets, public transport, industrial emissions, and the use of coal and firewood in tandoors.
