NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has directed seven government agencies, including Delhi Police, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the transport department, to submit daily reports on enforcement of pollution-control measures by 5 pm, as the capital steps up its response to deteriorating air quality during winter.
In a communication dated October 31, the pollution watchdog asked the agencies to increase the deployment of field officers and ensure effective implementation of restrictions on polluting vehicles, construction activities and other sources of emissions. The daily reporting mechanism is intended to help the DPCC monitor enforcement across departments and compile information for submission to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
The directions form part of Delhi's winter pollution-control measures, which came into effect on November 1 and will remain applicable until February 28, 2027. The communication has been sent to the commissioners of Delhi Police, MCD and the transport department, the chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the vice-chairperson of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the Delhi government's divisional commissioner and the chief executive officer of the Delhi Cantonment Board.
