The decision, communicated to ticketing platform BookMyShow after the police examined the organisers’ October 14 application, has left the Delhi leg of the singer’s Aura India Tour uncertain. In a letter seen by The Hindu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) Anant Mittal said the request could not be granted.
In view of the specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law & order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law & order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to,” the letter read. The decision drew criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which accused the government of bias against the singer.
